Share Your Cosplay Story
Cosplay has shaped more lives than we often realize.

Your Story Matters
Cosplay is often seen as costume, creativity, and fandom.
But for many people it becomes something deeper — a place to explore identity, build confidence, process grief, or find belonging.
Through the Cosplay Therapy Project and the book More Than a Story, I’m gathering real stories from cosplayers about how this community and these characters have shaped their lives.
If cosplay has mattered to you, I’d love to hear about it.
Cosplay is for All
Your story does not have to be dramatic.
You do not need to be a professional cosplayer.
You do not need a large social media following.
You do not need the perfect words.
If cosplay helped you feel stronger, seen, confident, or connected — that story matters.
What You Can Share
Cosplay has helped people:
-
explore identity
-
rebuild confidence
-
navigate grief or loss
-
find belonging in community
-
express parts of themselves they struggled to show before
-
connect with creativity and joy again
But every story is different.
How Stories May Be Used:
Stories may be used in:
-
the Cosplay Therapy Project
-
the book More Than a Story
-
talks and presentations about cosplay and identity
If your story is selected for publication or a deeper interview, you will be contacted first.
No one’s story will be shared without permission.
Cosplay reminds us that identity is not fixed.
Sometimes the characters we step into help us discover parts of ourselves we didn’t yet know how to name.
Thank you for being part of this project.
