Spirituality

In many cases, spirituality is always seen as a private matter. For me, though, it is a gigantic portion of what I write. I try always to have my writing reflect my values. Life - any life - is sacred. Though some of my writing includes violence, I try to draw clear boundaries around it. I also love to see the best come from people and I feel that swearing and sex outside of the confines of its designed purpose should not be glorified and I do not do so in my writing.

More than a list of "Do-Not's" though, I feel that each human being has the potential to live an abundant life; times are too short to spend our years in hatred of others, self-loathing, and superficial arguments. This came from spending time studying Christianity (as well as other world religions). In its true form, echoing its founder, Christianity offers a freedom from the selfish nature and the chance to live an amazingly full life (See Galatians 5:16 in the Bible - "So I say live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature" NIV).

I encourage you to explore this as well. Under Christian values, God offers this life to all who believe. Do not pay attention to people who practice this - figure it out for yourself. Read the Bible and learn about who Jesus is. That's the model for Christianity.

If you have been hurt by a religion that is sometimes seen as being hateful and judgemental - and many times hypocritical - please accept my apology. I would love to give it to you personally, but it's a pretty big planet and there a lot of people on it. For now, just let this sentiment wipe away a few smudges on the face of Jesus Christ.
